Manaus concludes SouManaus 2026 festival with cultural and archaeological highlights
The SouManaus Passo a Paço 2026 festival concluded in Manaus after ten days of cultural programming. Organized by the Manaus City Hall through ManausCult, the event featured over 150 attractions and employed more than 8,000 cultural workers. The festival's final stages focused on regional theater and audiovisual productions, utilizing venues such as the Teatro ICBEU and the Centro de Arqueologia de Manaus (CAM).
As part of the festival, the “Solo Ancestral” photographic exhibition opened at the CAM. The exhibit showcases archaeological findings discovered during construction works for the Encontro das Águas Rosa Almeida park. These findings, including ceramics and stone tools, suggest human occupation in the region dates back approximately 2,300 years, pushing back previous estimates of 1,700 years. The exhibition is expected to remain at the CAM for approximately 60 days.
