Manaus court maintains residential ban on 11 properties

A court in Amazonas has upheld the residential ban on 11 properties located on Rua Doutor Aprígio in the Aparecida neighborhood of Manaus. The decision, issued by Judge Moacir Pereira Batista of the Specialized Environmental Court, prohibits residents from returning to these buildings near the Senador Fábio Lucena Bridge until safety measures are met.

The municipality of Manaus must inspect the buildings within 30 days to identify occupants and classify each property by risk level, prioritizing those at risk of collapse. Owners have 90 days to submit recovery projects to municipal planning and civil defense authorities. The ruling also prohibits unauthorized structural changes or demolitions to preserve the area's architectural and historical characteristics.
