The Mayor of Manaus, Renato Junior, announced an expansion of the municipal support program for high-performance athletes. Starting in 2027, the number of athletes receiving aid to participate in national competitions will increase from 100 to 150.

Beneficiaries currently receive airfare and a R$ 1,000 stipend for competitions held outside the state. The announcement was made during a celebration of the 50th anniversary of jiu-jitsu in Amazonas at Ponta Negra.

In addition to athlete support, the municipal administration reported that over 400 sporting events have received support, benefiting approximately 1,600 participants, with 47 athletes winning medals. The mayor also noted that the renovation of the Miguel Arraes road complex will include a dedicated space for martial arts practice.
