Manaus Free Zone to add 200 factories in three years amid tax reform

The Superintendence of the Manaus Free Zone (Suframa) expects more than 200 new factories to be built in the Polo Industrial de Manaus (PIM) over the next three years, representing roughly a 30% increase from the current count of about 600 operating plants. The surge is attributed to the recent Brazilian tax reform, which preserves the zone’s constitutional tax benefits while phasing out similar incentives elsewhere by 2032.

Suframa is already scouting for additional land, including a proposal to extend the industrial plan to kilometre 35 of the AM‑010 highway, to accommodate the influx of investors. Companies slated to start or expand operations include Brainfarma (pharmaceuticals), Royal Enfield Brasil (high‑cylinder motorcycles) and Karina Plásticos da Amazônia (thermoplastic compounds). The agency also highlights the presence of multinationals such as Samsung, LG, Flextronics, Foxconn and others that operate both in Manaus and other Brazilian states, underscoring the zone’s role as a strategic hub for national industry. Superintendant Leopoldo Montenegro emphasized that the combination of legal certainty, tax incentives and expanded infrastructure is driving the new wave of investment and job creation in the Amazon region.
