Manaus hosts XI National Archival Congress for the first time in Northern Brazil

The XI National Archival Congress (CNA) is being held in Manaus from October 26 to 30. This marks the first time the event has been hosted in the Northern region of Brazil.

Under the theme “Archives and the Amazon: sustainability, sovereignty, and diversity in the digital document era,” the congress brings together professionals, researchers, and students to discuss document management, preservation, and information access. The program is organized into six thematic axes, including informational sovereignty, technological sustainability, and public policies for archives.

Marcelo Araújo, head of the Public Archive of the State of Amazonas (Apeam) and president of the Amazon Archives and Memory Network (Rama), noted the symbolic importance of the event for the region, highlighting its role in strengthening the archival profession and showcasing the Amazon's scientific and developmental potential.
