Manaus launches special traffic operation for Círio de Nazaré celebrations

The municipal government of Manaus, through the Instituto Municipal de Mobilidade Urbana (IMMU), will carry out a special traffic operation from 1 to 8 August to support the Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré religious festival.

The operation includes real‑time monitoring, temporary road closures and deployment of traffic agents along the procession routes – from Praça Nossa Senhora de Nazaré to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Fátima and back – covering major avenues such as Mário Ypiranga Monteiro, Teresina, Tarumã, Duque de Caxias, Humberto Calderaro Filho and others. The first major procession, the Transladação, starts on Saturday 1 August at 19:00; the traditional Círio procession occurs on Sunday 2 August at 07:00; the program ends on Friday 8 August with the Children and Youth procession.

IMMU director Stanley Ventilari emphasized the need to protect pilgrims and keep city mobility smooth, urging drivers to plan ahead, use alternative routes and follow the instructions of traffic agents.
