Manaus Mayor Renato Junior manages infrastructure works amid investigations

Manaus Mayor Renato Junior is currently managing extensive infrastructure projects while facing significant legal and financial scrutiny. The municipal administration has deployed 48 work fronts across the capital to accelerate road resurfacing, pothole repairs, and drainage improvements during the dry season. These efforts include major works in districts such as Cidade de Deus, Novo Israel, and Petrópolis, as well as the construction of the ‘Passarão’ road complex.

Simultaneously, the Mayor is the subject of 49 investigations by the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MP-AM) and the Amazonas State Court of Accounts (TCE-AM). These inquiries focus on a reported 10,000% increase in his declared assets between 2018 and 2024, rising from R$ 30,000 to R$ 3.1 million. Additionally, investigators are examining municipal contracts in the neighboring city of Autazes awarded to Total Mix, a company registered to the Mayor’s wife and cousin, which has secured over R$ 4.8 million in contracts.
