Manaus Municipal Chamber approves social and environmental legislation
The Manaus Municipal Chamber (CMM) has advanced several legislative measures focused on social protection and economic development.
Legislators discussed guidelines for the paid leave of women victims of domestic violence, following recent directives from the Attorney General's Office and the Supreme Federal Court. The measures allow for up to six months of leave from work with maintained employment ties. Payment responsibilities are divided between employers, the Social Security Institute (INSS), or municipal/state assistance depending on the victim's employment status.
Additionally, the chamber approved a bill to establish the Green Entrepreneurship Incentive Program in Manaus. This initiative aims to encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices, such as using recycled raw materials, while expanding access to microcredit for small enterprises.
Another approved measure establishes a municipal policy for the economic training and labor inclusion of women facing domestic or family violence, intended to provide professional opportunities for those under judicial protection.
