Manaus municipality upgrades road signage and audits paid parking system

The Manaus city government, through the Institute of Municipal Urban Mobility (IMMU), installed and refreshed horizontal and vertical traffic signs across the Centro‑Sul, East and West zones. The work included new double continuous lines, sectional markings and pedestrian crossings on key avenues such as Via Láctea, Belo Horizonte, Cosme Ferreira and Brasil, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.

In a separate effort, the city's Controladoria‑Geral and the public‑services regulator Ageman conducted a joint inspection of the paid rotating‑parking (Zona Azul) service in the downtown area. Inspectors evaluated lane markings, signage, QR‑code payment displays and overall compliance with the concession contract, which serves over 123,000 users monthly. The audit will result in a report with recommendations to ensure the system operates efficiently and safely for drivers and pedestrians.
