Brazil police arrest suspect in Manaus stabbing death

Mike Cavalcante e Silva, 33, has been arrested in Manaus for the murder of massage therapist Daniel de Almeida Fonseca, 44. The incident occurred on June 14 near a gas station in the Aleixo neighborhood following a dispute.

During police interrogation, Silva confessed to the homicide but claimed he acted in self-defense, a claim investigators say contradicts evidence from security cameras. Police noted that the arrest also prevented a potential execution of the suspect by a criminal organization, a practice known as a ‘crime tribunal’ (tribunal do crime).

Security footage captured the physical assault and the suspect's subsequent flight. Additionally, an unidentified woman was seen stealing the victim's bag during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
