Bahia police launch operation against interstate drug and arms trafficking ring
The Bahia Civil Police, supported by the Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA) and the Special Group for Combating Criminal Organizations (GAECO), launched ‘Operação Reino Oculto’ to dismantle an interstate drug and arms trafficking network involved in money laundering.
Investigations initiated in March revealed the criminal group had moved over R$ 4 million. The organization utilized a front company to transport illicit goods and maintained a structured hierarchy including command, financial management, logistics, and distribution sectors. The group was responsible for supplying drugs to the states of São Paulo, Espírito Santo, and Sergipe, while also negotiating 5.56 caliber firearms and ammunition.
Judicial warrants are being executed across 23 neighborhoods in Salvador and its metropolitan area, as well as two municipalities in the interior of Bahia. The operation also extends to cities in São Paulo, Espírito Santo, and Sergipe.
