Manaus records 2026 temperature high of 37.1°C

Manaus, Brazil, recorded its highest temperature of 2026 on Tuesday, August 25, reaching 37.1°C. According to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), this mark is the third temperature record set in August alone, surpassing previous highs of 36.2°C and 36.3°C recorded earlier in the month.

The intense heat coincides with a dry period and an increase in fire outbreaks across various areas of the capital. Experts note that while high temperatures are characteristic of August, the El Niño phenomenon—caused by the abnormal warming of the Equatorial Pacific Ocean waters—may intensify these patterns by altering atmospheric circulation and weather patterns.

Forecasts from the Amazon Protection System Operational and Management Center (Censipam) indicate continued sunny weather with minimal chance of rain for the remainder of the week, with maximum temperatures expected to remain near 35°C.
