Manaus residential fire leads to window rescue of infant
A fire broke out in a residential complex in the North Zone of Manaus, specifically in the Conjunto Viver Melhor 3, on Sunday. The blaze originated in a ground-floor apartment in block 5 and spread to an adjacent unit.
During the incident, residents mobilized to rescue people from the building. A two-month-old baby was reportedly placed in a plastic bag and lowered through a window by neighbors to escape the smoke. Two other children also required assistance to exit the building, and a mother was treated by firefighters after losing consciousness due to smoke inhalation.
The Amazonas Military Fire Brigade (CBMAM) deployed 24 personnel and eight vehicles to combat the flames, using approximately 12,000 liters of water. While the baby and children were treated by emergency medical services (SAMU) and taken to a local health center, a dog located in the apartment where the fire started died in the incident.
