Manavgat hosts Honey Producers Festival to promote local agriculture

The Honey Producers Festival has commenced in Manavgat’s Cumhuriyet Square, organized through a collaboration between the Manavgat Honey Producers Association and the Manavgat Municipality. The event showcases various local honey varieties and bee products to the public.

During the opening ceremonies, Vahap Erdem, President of the Manavgat Honey Producers Association, called on citizens to support local products to ensure producers receive fair value for their labor. Rasim Metin, President of the Manavgat Chamber of Agriculture, emphasized the ecological importance of bees in maintaining natural balance and urged for the consumption of geographically indicated local products—such as sesame, olive oil, and citrus—within regional tourism facilities to bolster the local economy.

Mehmet Çiçek, Deputy Mayor of Manavgat, noted that the region's honey production capacity is higher than previously estimated. He highlighted that local hotels and large-scale consumers should prioritize purchasing regional goods to keep economic benefits within Manavgat.
