Manavgat inmates participate in voluntary environmental cleaning

Under the ‘Voluntary Work Model’ of the Ministry of Justice’s General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, inmates from the Manavgat Open Penal Institution have begun environmental cleaning and landscaping activities. Coordinated by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and in cooperation with the Manavgat Municipality, the program started on August 28.

Fifteen inmates are participating voluntarily three days a week to clean and organize public areas, including parks, beaches, and picnic sites. The initiative aims to improve the cleanliness of shared spaces while fostering social responsibility and environmental awareness among the participants.

Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor Ersin Selim Efendigil stated that the fundamental goal of the penal system is not to isolate individuals from society but to reintegrate them. He noted that this model promotes responsibility, solidarity, and social harmony, helping to break down prejudices between the community and correctional institutions.
