Manavgat tourist detained over alleged puppy cruelty

A German tourist has been detained in the Manavgat district of Antalya following allegations of animal cruelty. The incident occurred in the Ilıca neighborhood when an ATV reportedly struck a puppy on the roadside.

Witnesses and a local motorcycle courier, Alican Yılmaz, alleged that after the initial collision, the puppy was struck with a stone, resulting in its death. Yılmaz reported the incident to authorities and captured part of the event on a helmet camera.

Following an investigation by the Manavgat District Gendarmerie, the suspect, identified as J. R., was located through a rental company and taken into custody. After providing a statement to the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor, the suspect was released. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
