In the Madrid derby, Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid 2-1; Real Madrid's Dean Huijsen received a red card in the 52nd minute, and Arda Güler played 54 minutes before being substituted.

In the English Premier League, Manchester City continued their winning streak with a 5-3 victory over Sunderland, reaching 15 points from five matches. Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0 to Brighton. Elsewhere in England, Liverpool secured a 1-0 win against Bournemouth, while Hull City lost 2-1 to Newcastle United.

In other major leagues, Borussia Dortmund remains at the top of the Bundesliga, while Roma leads Serie A and Monaco sits atop Ligue 1.
