Manchester City and Chelsea discuss £10m compensation as Enzo Maresca nears manager role

Manchester City and Chelsea are in talks over a compensation package reportedly exceeding £10 million. The settlement would resolve Chelsea’s claim that Enzo Maresca breached his contract by negotiating with City while still under contract at Stamford Bridge, and would clear the path for Maresca to replace Pep Guardiola as City’s manager.

Chelsea has retained the right to seek compensation for the remaining three‑and‑a‑half years on Maresca’s contract, and both clubs have involved senior executives and lawyers in the negotiations. City’s chairman has urged patience, while the club faces a possible Premier League investigation into the approach.

Despite the unresolved paperwork, Maresca is already collaborating with City sporting director Hugo Viana on summer transfer targets and has begun informal work within the club, indicating City’s confidence that he will assume the role once the financial dispute is settled.
