Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov extends contract to 2031

Uzbekistan international centre‑back Abdukodir Khusanov, 22, has signed a five‑year contract extension with Manchester City that keeps him at the Etihad until the summer of 2031. He joined the club from RC Lens in January 2025 for a fee of around €40 million and quickly became a regular in the defence, making 47 appearances across all competitions and helping City secure the FA Cup and League Cup double in the 2025‑26 season.

Khusanov featured in all three of Uzbekistan’s group‑stage matches at the 2026 World Cup. Reflecting on the new deal, he said it was “a great day for me and my family” and that he is “determined to impress new manager Enzo Maresca and his staff”. City’s director of football Hugo Viana praised his development, describing him as a “brilliant young man” with the physical and technical attributes to become a world‑class centre‑back.

The extension follows a busy summer for City, which also secured a new long‑term contract for midfielder Phil Foden. Khusanov’s contract runs alongside the club’s preparations for the upcoming season, beginning with the Community Shield against Arsenal on 16 August.
