Manchester United Close to Signing Atalanta Midfielder Ederson

Atalanta midfielder Ederson has confirmed that his move to Manchester United is “almost done”. Reports indicate United have reached an agreement with the Italian club for an initial fee of about €40‑45 million (approximately £35‑38 million) and have already settled personal terms with the 26‑year‑old Brazilian. The transfer would be the first major midfield signing of Michael Carrick’s rebuilding plan following the departure of Casemiro.

Ederson, who was called up to Brazil’s World Cup squad as a late injury replacement, made his tournament debut as a substitute in Brazil’s 3‑0 win over Haiti. He said he wants to enjoy the moment before the paperwork is finalized. The only steps remaining are his medical examination and the completion of the registration formalities, after which United will announce him as the inaugural signing of the Carrick era.

United are also pursuing additional midfield targets, including West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, to further strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026‑27 season and a return to the Champions League.
