Manchester City fans revive inflatable banana trend

Manchester City fans have revived a unique tradition of bringing inflatable bananas to matches, a trend that has led to a significant commercial boom for club legend Imre Varadi. The former striker, who originally sparked the trend nearly four decades ago, is now seeing a surge in demand for the items, which are being sold for £10 each.

The resurgence occurred during Manchester City’s 3-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield, marking the club’s first match following findings of over 100 Premier League financial rule violations between 2009 and 2019. Fans used the inflatable bananas as a symbol of solidarity and optimism, referencing the club’s era of frequent promotions and relegations in the 1980s.

In response to the trend, Manchester City management has arranged a VIP reception for Varadi and his family for the upcoming match against Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium. The club aims to see the stands filled with the yellow inflatables, following the massive global influx of orders Varadi has received.
