Manchester City names Enzo Maresca as new manager

Manchester City announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the club's new manager, succeeding Pep Guardiola after a decade of unprecedented success. The Italian coach, who previously guided Leicester City back to the Premier League and won the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea, will take charge ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Maresca began preparations at the City Football Academy, with players returning from the World Cup and a first press conference scheduled for Friday. The team will embark on a three‑match pre‑season tour in Asia, starting in Hong Kong, before facing Arsenal in the Community Shield. Transfer activity has been limited so far, with midfielder Elliot Anderson identified as the only major signing.

Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak praised Maresca’s willingness to tackle the challenge of replacing Guardiola, and the new manager is expected to outline his plans for the squad during the press conference.
