Manchester City eyes young midfielders Marc Bernal and Ayyoub Bouaddi

Manchester City have opened talks on two teenage midfield prospects as they plan for the possible departure of long‑term midfielder Rodri. The club have made an initial approach for Barcelona’s 19‑year‑old La Masia graduate Marc Bernal, a potential long‑term successor to Busquets. Bernal, who signed a contract until 2029 with a €500 million release clause, has expressed a desire to stay at Barcelona, while the club has not confirmed any formal offer.

At the same time, City are negotiating a deal for Lille’s 18‑year‑old Moroccan international Ayyoub Bouaddi. Reports indicate personal terms have been agreed and the transfer fee is projected at around £85‑90 million. Bouaddi attracted wider attention after strong performances at the FIFA World Cup, and his signing would be one of the most expensive in City’s history. Both moves are still in the early stages, with no official offers disclosed.

Other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, are also monitoring the two midfielders, but City appear to be the earliest suitors.
