Manchester City secures Phil Foden on new long‑term contract, ending transfer rumours

Phil Foden is set to sign a new contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until at least 2030, putting an end to months of speculation about his future. The agreement, built on a pre‑contract reached in May, confirms City’s intention to retain the England midfielder for a further four years.

The decision is a blow to AC Milan, which had been pursuing the 26‑year‑old as a priority target, and also reduces interest from other Serie A sides such as Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid. City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has indicated that the club will not sell the player, despite a disappointing season that saw the club miss the Champions League places.

Foden, who won the Premier League Player of the Season award for 2023/24, is expected to resume a key role under new head coach Enzo Maresca, who plans to use him in a system similar to that of Cole Palmer at Chelsea.
