Manchester City signs 16‑year‑old English winger Jeremy Monga from Leicester

Manchester City have agreed a deal worth up to £12.5 million with Leicester City to sign 16‑year‑old England youth international Jeremy Monga. The agreement includes an initial £10 million payment, £2.5 million in performance‑related add‑ons and a sell‑on clause. City’s newly appointed head coach Enzo Maresca, who worked with Monga at Leicester, played a key role in completing the transfer. Arsenal were also interested but withdrew after deeming Leicester’s valuation too high.

Monga made his Premier League debut at 15 years and 271 days, becoming one of the youngest ever to play in the league. He featured in 30 Championship matches last season, scoring once and providing two assists, as Leicester suffered a second consecutive relegation. His scholarship agreement will convert to a professional contract on 10 July, when he turns 17, allowing him to join City officially.

The move gives Leicester a sizable fee thanks to the scholarship clause, while City add a highly rated teenage winger to their long‑term recruitment plan.
