Elliot Anderson set for record £116 million move to Manchester City
Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson for a guaranteed fee of around £116 million, the highest ever paid for a British player and a new club record. The deal is fixed with no add‑ons, surpassing the previous City record set for Jack Grealish and exceeding the £100 million mark previously paid for any Premier League player.
Anderson, 23, is currently with the England squad at the 2026 World Cup in the United States. He is scheduled to undergo his medical in New York on Friday, allowing him to remain in the tournament and play England's final group‑stage match against Panama. The transfer remains subject to personal‑terms agreement and the completion of the medical.
The signing comes as City prepare for a post‑Guardiola era, with Enzo Maresca tipped to become the new manager. The club view Anderson as a long‑term replacement for departing midfielders such as Bernardo Silva, aiming to reinforce a midfield that blends defensive work‑rate with attacking creativity.
