Manchester City signs goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli from Marseille

Manchester City has officially signed Argentine goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli from Olympique de Marseille on a two-year contract, tying him to the club until the summer of 2028. The transfer fee is reported to be between €2 million and €3.5 million.

This marks a return to the Etihad Stadium for the 34-year-old, who was originally part of the Manchester City squad during the 2016/17 season but never made a first-team appearance before being loaned to Real Sociedad. Rulli joins as an experienced backup to primary goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, following the departure of James Trafford to Leeds United.

During his time at Marseille, Rulli made 73 appearances. His decorated career also includes winning the 2021 Europa League with Villarreal and being part of the Argentina squads that won the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América. Marseille's sale of Rulli is part of a broader effort to balance books following UEFA financial penalties and a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1.
