Manchester City signs 17‑year‑old winger Jeremy Monga on five‑year deal

Manchester City announced the signing of 17‑year‑old English winger Jeremy Monga from Leicester City on a five‑year contract that runs until 2031. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but media reports put the base amount at around £10 million with possible add‑ons raising it to £12.5 million. Monga, who made his Premier League debut at 15 and became the second‑youngest player to appear in the competition, played 37 senior games for Leicester, including seven in the top flight, and broke several age‑related records in both the Premier League 2 and the Championship. He said joining the “best club in England over the past 10 years” was a dream come true and praised the pathway created for academy graduates such as Phil Foden and Nico O’Reilly.

At the same time, City completed the return of former academy goalkeeper Pierce Charles, a 20‑year‑old Northern Ireland international, signing him from Sheffield Wednesday on a five‑year deal. Charles will spend the 2026‑27 season on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers to gain first‑team experience. Both signings fit manager Enzo Maresca’s strategy of adding elite young talent to the squad while providing a clear development route for the club’s future.
