In his first press conference Maresca paid tribute to the late Kevin Keegan and detailed his approach to player welfare, noting personal contacts with Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and other squad members. He confirmed that Spanish midfielder Rodri will undergo back surgery on Monday, will rest, and is expected to return after recovery; the club has extended Rodri’s contract to 2027 and does not anticipate his departure. He also stated that Jack Grealish remains a City player and that James Trafford is part of the squad’s plans.
Maresca touched on transfer matters, expressing interest in Chelsea full‑back Malo Gusto and outlining the summer preseason tour to Hong Kong, Seoul and Cardiff ahead of the Community Shield against Arsenal.
