Manchester City targets Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernandez amid midfield overhaul
Manchester City is undergoing a significant midfield overhaul following the departure of Rodri to Barcelona for a reported £65 million. Manager Enzo Maresca is actively pursuing several targets to stabilize the squad before the transfer window closes.
Negotiations for 18-year-old Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille are reportedly in advanced stages. City is expected to pay a fee in the region of €85 million to €100 million to secure the talent, who impressed during the 2026 World Cup. Personal terms between Bouaddi and City have already been reached.
Simultaneously, City remains interested in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Despite missing a previous £120 million deadline set by Chelsea, reports indicate City is still attempting to find a way to revive the deal. The pursuit of Fernandez is complicated by the fact that his previous valuation may no longer be valid.
Other transfer activity includes the arrival of Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million. The club has also been linked with Chelsea defender Malo Gusto as they look to address defensive depth following the exit of Kyle Walker.
