Manchester community commemorates victims of Heaton Park Shul attack

Approximately 3,000 people gathered in Manchester to dedicate the Unity Sefer Torah at Heaton Park Shul. The ceremony serves as a memorial for Melvyn Kravitz and Adrian Daulby, who were killed during a terrorist attack at the synagogue on Yom Kippur last year.

The new Torah scroll was funded through community donations, with members sponsoring letters, verses, or portions of the text. The dedication included a procession from Rabbi Daniel Walker’s home to the synagogue, accompanied by music and security from the Greater Manchester Police and CST.

A gala dinner followed the ceremony, featuring speakers including Rabbi Walker and former Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy. Attendees included individuals injured during the original attack. This event follows the recent announcement by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood regarding a public inquiry into the atrocity to ensure the events are fully understood.
