Manchester double murder suspect arrested in Turkey

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the 2020 Moss Side double murder in Manchester. The suspect was detained in Turkey and transported back to England, where he was met by Greater Manchester Police officers at Stansted Airport. He remains in custody.

The fatal incident occurred in the early hours of June 21, 2020, during a lockdown gathering in a car park off Caythorne Street. Two men, Cheriff Tall, 21, and Junior Ajose, 36, were shot in the head. Reports indicate that Ajose was killed after stepping in to help Tall. Police estimate that between 300 and 400 people were present in the car park at the time of the shootings.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson of the Major Incident Team stated that the arrest demonstrates an “unwavering commitment to securing justice” for the victims. Following a 2024 inquest, the deaths were recorded as unlawful killings. Authorities continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward and maintain a £50,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
