Manchester murder trial: Headteacher dragged under car for a mile
A murder trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court has heard details regarding the death of 56-year-old headteacher Michael Mullins. Prosecutors allege that Simon Richardson, 35, murdered Mr. Mullins after striking him with a Volvo XC90 while he was cycling home from Stretford Grammar School on April 20.
The prosecution contends that Richardson drove through give way markers at a junction in Altrincham, hitting the cyclist and subsequently driving for more than a mile with Mr. Mullins trapped beneath the vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing the bicycle in the road, but the cyclist was not immediately visible because he was underneath the car.
A motorcyclist testified to discovering a trail of blood on the road that led to Mr. Mullins, who was found on a grass verge in Lymm, Cheshire, approximately 2.2 kilometers from the initial collision site. Despite emergency services being called, the victim's condition deteriorated before he passed away.
