Manchester United achieves record revenue despite lack of sporting success

Manchester United has reported record annual revenues for the fiscal year ending June 2026, estimated at approximately £677.6 million. This financial growth occurred despite the club failing to qualify for UEFA competitions, such as the Champions League, which typically provides significant broadcast and matchday revenue.

Co-chairman Avram Glazer stated at a sports investment conference that the club’s value is not strictly tied to on-pitch performance. Glazer compared the football club to major American sporting brands like the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees, which maintain high valuations despite long trophy droughts.

The club’s commercial operations have diversified through major partnerships, including a front-of-shirt deal with Snapdragon and kit manufacturing with adidas. While commercial income has risen steadily from £152 million in 2012/13 to £317 million in 2025/26, the club continues to face criticism from supporters regarding its recent decline in Premier League standings and overall sporting results.
