Manchester United and Atlético Madrid eye Brighton midfielder Diego Gómez

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Diego Gómez has emerged as a primary transfer target for several major European clubs ahead of the January market. The 23-year-old Paraguayan international has drawn significant interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Atlético Madrid following standout performances in the Premier League, including a notable long-range goal against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United is reportedly preparing a formal approach to secure the midfielder's physical presence and versatility. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid has identified Gómez as a priority to strengthen their midfield for La Liga and UEFA Champions League competitions. Atlético values his ability to play in central midfield, as a playmaker, or on the right flank.

Negotiations are expected to be difficult for interested parties. Brighton secured Gómez with a contract extension through June 2031, granting the club significant leverage. Reports suggest Brighton may demand a transfer fee between €50 million and €60 million to facilitate a move.
