Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Serie A club Atalanta. Sources say the clubs have reached a verbal agreement on a fee of roughly €48‑50 million (about £43‑46 million) with performance‑related add‑ons. Atalanta head coach Raffaele Palladino confirmed the player was omitted from the final league match because “there’s a concrete negotiation with a top club,” hinting at United’s involvement. The transfer would be Manchester United’s first signing under permanent manager Michael Carrick and is intended to replace departing midfield anchor Casemiro.

In parallel, United are also monitoring other midfield targets, notably West Ham’s 21‑year‑old Mateus Fernandes, for whom the club has indicated a willingness to spend up to £70 million.
