Manchester United nears deal for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba
Manchester United is nearing a deal to sign Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion. Reports indicate that United has submitted offers in the region of £60 million to £70 million, plus add-ons, to secure the 22-year-old. While Brighton’s initial valuation last summer exceeded £100 million, negotiations are reportedly progressing amicably as the clubs work toward a final agreement.
Baleba is expected to be the third midfield reinforcement for manager Michael Carrick this summer, following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. The move aims to address a shortage in defensive midfield depth following the departure of Casemiro and injuries to other squad members.
Despite the progress, Baleba is currently recovering from an ankle ligament injury sustained during pre-season, which may sideline him for several weeks.
