Manchester United completes €45‑million signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson
Manchester United have completed the transfer of 26‑year‑old Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta for a fee of around €45 million (£35 million) plus up to £4 million in performance‑related add‑ons. The player travelled to New York for his medical examination, a logistical choice made because he was already in the United States after being called up to Brazil’s World Cup squad. The signing marks head coach Michael Carrick’s first acquisition since taking charge, with Ederson signing a four‑year contract that includes an optional fifth year, keeping him at Old Trafford until possibly 2030. The deal is expected to be finalised in early July 2026. Despite the high profile of the transfer, fan‑token markets showed little reaction.
