Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez linked to Barcelona departure

Lisandro Martinez is reportedly nearing a departure from Manchester United, with Barcelona expressing interest in acquiring the 28-year-old defender. Martinez’s contract is set to expire next summer, and while Manchester United may trigger an automatic one-year extension clause to avoid losing him for free, the player has publicly voiced dissatisfaction with the club's management following recent performances.

Barcelona is reportedly considering a move for the Argentine international, potentially seeking a pre-contract agreement in January or a free transfer when his current deal concludes. To address potential defensive gaps, Manchester United is reportedly monitoring 18-year-old Dutch centre-back Ruud Nijstad from FC Twente as a potential successor.
