Manchester United extends Andre Onana loan to Trabzonspor amid goalkeeper reshuffle

Manchester United has confirmed that goalkeeper Andre Onana will spend a second season on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor. The club indicated Onana is not in its plans for the upcoming campaign and Trabzonspor will pay a loan fee while covering his wages. Onana, who joined United for £47 million in 2023, spent the previous season on loan in Turkey and helped the club to a third‑place league finish and a cup victory.

With Senne Lammens established as the first‑choice keeper, United is scouting backup options. Reports name Scotland international Angus Gunn, released by Nottingham Forest, as a potential free‑transfer target, while experienced Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone have also been mentioned. In addition, 22‑year‑old Czech keeper Radek Vitek, currently on loan from United, has attracted interest from newly promoted Premier League side Hull City, which seeks a first‑team goalkeeper.

The club’s broader goalkeeping overhaul also includes the possible departure of Altay Bayindir and the evaluation of other candidates as United prepares for the new season.
