Manchester United eyes Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba

Fabrizio Romano says 22‑year‑old Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba is still keen to join Manchester United and that personal terms were agreed last summer, but the club has not renewed contact. Brighton’s asking price, reported to exceed £100 million, has kept United from making a new bid.

United are actively rebuilding their midfield after Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s long‑term injury. Aside from Baleba, the Red Devils are pursuing Aurelien Tchouaméni, Andrey Santos and other targets, while recent interests such as Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes have fallen through. Baleba’s form has dipped this season, raising questions about his suitability, but his willingness to move could give United an option if other deals stall.
