Manchester United face striker shortage as Rasmus Højlund sidelined
Manchester United's attacking options have been further depleted following news that striker Rasmus Højlund is expected to remain sidelined for another two months. Due to a calf injury sustained in mid-September, medical staff have opted against surgery, aiming for a full recovery that could see him return as early as January 2027.
This injury exacerbates the club's ongoing shortage of natural center-forwards. Meanwhile, speculation regarding Marcus Rashford's future at Old Trafford continues to grow. Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are interested in the 28-year-old forward ahead of the January transfer window. Rashford has struggled to secure a starting position under manager Ruben Amorim, recording no goals or assists in all competitions so far this season.
Despite recent struggles, including an eight-match winless streak, Manchester United management has decided to maintain stability by retaining Amorim. There are also reports of improved cohesion within the squad, noting that Amorim and captain Bruno Fernandes have resolved previous tensions.
