Manchester United leads chase for midfield targets Alex Scott and Aurelien Tchouameni

Arsenal have withdrawn from the race for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, leaving Manchester United as the primary suitor. Bournemouth have placed a £75‑80 million release clause on Scott, and United, backed by INEOS, are assessing whether to meet the price after earlier failed attempts to sign other midfielders.

United are also monitoring Real Madrid’s €120 million (£103 million) asking price for French defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The club faces spending constraints after costly, unrealised pursuits of Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, and must decide if a record‑breaking fee for Tchouameni would be justified.

Both potential signings would reshape United’s midfield, with the club weighing the financial impact against the ambition to assemble a top‑class squad.
