Manchester United linked to Unai Emery amid managerial speculation

Manchester United has reportedly included Aston Villa manager Unai Emery on its shortlist of potential managerial candidates. This speculation follows a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which left the club in 16th place in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.

Reports indicate that United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, highly regards Emery due to his success in transforming Aston Villa and securing Champions League appearances. While Emery’s name has been part of the club's due diligence processes in the past, securing his services mid-season would be difficult.

Pundit Jamie Carragher has publicly called for the dismissal of current manager Michael Carrick, suggesting Emery is the best manager in the Premier League. While Manchester United co-owners INEOS currently support Carrick, the club is facing pressure to improve results following exits from the Carabao Cup and poor Champions League form.
