Manchester United manager rejects City 'kings' claim

Ahead of the upcoming Manchester derby, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has rejected claims made by Manchester City midfielder Elliot Anderson that City are the ‘kings of Manchester’. Anderson, who joined City from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, stated upon arriving at the Etihad Stadium, ‘Since I have known Manchester, City are the kings of Manchester.’

Carrick declined to use similar terminology, emphasizing a realistic outlook for his team. ‘I definitely do not use that expression,’ Carrick said, noting that United remains humble regarding their recent history while expressing a desire to compete more effectively.

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca supported Anderson’s perspective, citing the club's significant success over the last 15 years. While Manchester United has struggled with a slow start to the season, including only one win in three league matches, they recently secured a 4-0 victory in the Champions League. Manchester City enters the derby having won all four of their matches this season.
