Manchester United monitoring Fulham defender Calvin Bassey

Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for Fulham defender Calvin Bassey as part of a potential defensive overhaul. The 26-year-old Nigerian international is being monitored for his versatility, as he is capable of playing both at center-back and left-back.

United’s interest follows reports of uncertainty regarding the future of Lisandro Martinez. Bassey’s ability to cover multiple positions could provide necessary depth, especially as Luke Shaw approaches the final stages of his contract.

Bassey, who joined Fulham from Ajax in 2023, faces competition from several other European clubs. Newcastle United, Everton, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig are also reportedly tracking his progress. While Bassey’s current contract with Fulham expires in June 2027, the club holds an option to extend the deal by an additional 12 months.
