Manchester United Near Completion of Ederson Transfer After Medical Delay

Manchester United have a verbal agreement with Atalanta to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson for a fee reported at £35 million plus add‑ons, bringing the total to around £39 million. All contract documents are prepared, and personal terms have been agreed. The sole remaining step is Ederson’s second medical examination, which must be completed in England after his involvement in the 2026 World Cup. Club officials and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have repeatedly denied rumours that the deal has collapsed, confirming that the structure of the agreement remains intact. The signing is expected to bolster United’s midfield following the departures of Casemiro and the injury to Manuel Ugarte. It will also be the first player signed under new head coach Michael Carrick. United are meanwhile monitoring additional midfield targets, but Ederson’s move is still on track pending the final medical.
