Manchester United near £68 million deal for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni

Real Madrid have reversed their earlier stance and are now prepared to sell French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni for around €80 million (£68 million). The club is said to need fresh funds to finance a possible acquisition of World Cup‑winner Rodri from Manchester City.

Manchester United view Tchouameni as their ideal replacement for Casemiro in the No 6 role. After already securing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer, United consider the 26‑year‑old the final piece of their midfield rebuild. Reports from the Sun, BBC Sport and transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano note that the deal could be hampered by the player's salary expectations, while United also keep other midfield options such as Roma’s Manu Kone, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Fulham’s Sander Berge and Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams on their shortlist.
