Manchester United persist in bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni

Manchester United remain interested in signing French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid, despite indications that the Spanish club plans to keep him for the upcoming season. Real Madrid consider the 25‑year‑old a core part of their midfield and have shown no sign of putting him on the transfer market.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand said the club may be withholding funds to afford Tchouameni, stating, “Man United are holding up their money, they are holding the money back for one man and that’s Tchouameni.” He added that United are unlikely to overpay for other players this window. If the transfer were to materialise, United could be expected to meet a price of around £100 million, reflecting the fee Real Madrid originally paid (£85 million) plus add‑ons.

The pursuit continues as United evaluate alternative options, while Real Madrid’s new manager José Mourinho appears to value defensive‑minded midfielders like Tchouameni. No official offer has been reported, and the player remains with Real Madrid for now.
