Manchester United pursues Julian Alvarez and arranges Andre Onana loan

Manchester United have intensified their pursuit of Argentine striker Julian Alvarez. The club is in direct contact with the player’s representatives and is competing with Barcelona and Real Madrid for his signature. Atletico Madrid have so far rejected the offers, despite a reported €150 million bid from Real Madrid. Alvarez told the Argentina national team that he wants a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano and has spoken openly about seeking a transfer.

At the same time, United are close to finalising a season‑long loan for goalkeeper Andre Onana to Turkish side Trabzonspor. Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly 90 % complete, with no option to buy. Onana, who spent the 2025‑26 season on loan at Trabzonspor and helped them win the Turkish Cup, is unlikely to return to Old Trafford where Senne Lammens is favoured as first‑choice keeper. United prefer to free up a senior squad spot and avoid potential locker‑room tension, while Onana still has two years left on his contract with the club.
